Why do we create boring materials?

Cathy Moore has a really interesting post on why we create boring e-learning materials here.

I  am sure all of you out there will be able to relate to the points she raises.

  1. Sometimes I think it’s easier to create content around concepts alone. Content that can be tested on the lowest levels of Blooms Taxonomy because that’s all low hanging fruit. It’s harder to come up with engaging simulations, problem sets, scenarios for students to get involved in and use. Plus there’s this strange assumption that people have that if you just present things out to people they’ll absorb it and somehow figure out how to use it on their own.
